A Word from our Deacons

Dr. Hall has retired at the end of September. We hope he and Gloria are enjoying this new phase of their lives and we ask for God’s blessing upon them.
As we eagerly await Rev. Hotaling’s arrival on November 1st, guest pastors will be filling the pulpit during our normal Sunday worship times. During the month of October, the Deacons will be assuming some of the duties usually performed by our Pastor.

Please continue to contact the church office 304-725-5917 during this time as we will continue to meet the needs of the congregation. Please leave a message if the church secretary is unavailable and after normal working hours. As always, you can reach any of the Deacons through their home number.

In Christ,
Jim Burke, Chairman

Operation Christmas Child

Hello “shoe box” missionaries and new members, it is that time of year again where we participate in this ministry called “Operation: Christmas Child.” The Missions Ministry Team encourages everyone to pitch in, families, Sunday School classes, church groups, individuals and friends. It gives great personal satisfaction to know a child’s Christmas is fun, but more important they learn about Christ’s love.
All you have to do is fill a shoe box (cardboard or plastic) with toys, school supplies, and/or hygiene items, (the Dollar Tree next to Staples is the best place to shop) insert a $7.00 check to Samaritan’s Purse for shipping and wrap the top and bottom separately. SP will insert pamphlets in the language of the recipient. Many children’s families have been brought to Christ in this way. God is always working!
A display will be in the overflow area and brochures in the Sunday Bulletins with full details. The deadline for our shoe boxes will be November 9th.
If you have any questions, call Lynn or Steve at 876-9358. Please pray for this wonderful mission.
In God’s Love,
Steve & Lynn Faulconer

Dedication and Open House of the New Addition and Facilities - Oct 25th

We have set the date for the dedication of our new facilities for Sunday, October 25th, 2009. Dr. Tom Stocks will be speaking, he is the Valley Region Field Strategist and Resource Person for the Virginia Baptist Mission Board. We will have basically the same service at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. Full plans are still in progress.

After the 11:00 a.m. service we will have a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. in the new all-purpose Fellowship Hall. At 3:00 p.m. we will have a community open house with punch and cookies and a tour of the facilities. Those Sunday School Classes which are moving should have moved into their new classrooms by then and be set up for the tours.

Put this on your calendar, you wouldn’t want to miss it!
